Today Claire is four months old! She went for her check up on Monday and weighed in a 14.8 lbs and measured 25 inches long. The shots were traumatic as usual, but she did okay...as did I. This past weekend, also marked another big milestone....switching from the little infant bottles to the big girl 8oz bottles! She is in the midst of a growing spurt and is gulping down 6ozs every feeding.
She is laughing and talking (cooing) all the time now. She rolls all over the place and can almost sit up on her own. Her favorite toy continues to be Mallory the Monkey and Claire is officially a thumb sucker. (no matter how many times I try to replace that thumb with a paci)
Well the past month has been kindof crazy. Joel and I decided to take a last minute trip to North Georgia with some friends of ours. We had a wonderful time. We went hiking with Emily strapped to us for the first time and we were covered in sweat by the time we were done. It was a lot of fun though. Emily slept through it all. When we got back from our trip I decided to go down to Florida to visit with my brother for a week. By the way...Tiffany just had a baby yesterday for those of you who know her. I had to come home before he was born, but my mom says he's adorable. I cant wait to meet him.
Here are some pictues of Gibson and Emily playing together. Emily got to learn a lot of lessons about "Big Brothers" while she was there. Gibson loved to lay on her and give her kisses. He was so good with her and so sweet. He calls her "Baby Mimms". I think Emily has missed having another kid around to watch. We got back and she went to VBS all week and enjoyed being around those kids. She's going to be bored next week with no kids around.
While I was in Florida, Joel got a new job as assistant principal of Calera High School and so we now are moving. I will miss our little house with the huge yard. Emily and I love being out in the back yard playing with the dogs, but I guess it's time to move on in life. If you know of anyone who wants to buy a house in Hueytown Alabama, please send them my way.
The new house is much bigger but we don't have furniture to put in it yet. I guess we'll live in a half empty house until we see this one. That's okay... maybe Emily will learn to crawl soon and it's less for her to get into.
Emily is getting to be so independent. She sits on her own a lot and watches things that go on around her. I love this picture of her lounging on the couch. She started out sitting up, but the next time I looked over she was slouched down. She looked like such a couch potato.
I took her for her 3 month check up and she is off the charts on her height and she's in the 97% on her weight (14lbs 2oz.). I guess that means we have a big baby. She so sweet. People have been telling me that they think she has colic because she cries with them... but I think it's payback for my childhood. Apparently I wouldnt go to anyone but my mom and she seems to do the same thing sometimes. She is getting better about it though.
I've got to get to work... I only have Emily's short nap times to pack the whole house. Wish me luck.
This was Chris' first Father's Day! This past weekend we celebrated with Chris' mom and dad with dinner at a local steakhouse on Saturday night. It is Chris' favorite steakhouse in the whole world and he throughly enjoyed his massive porterhouse steak! On Sunday we celebrated with my dad at Outback. The whole family was there and we really had a good time. Claire and I got Chris a gift card to get some new sunglasses. (Something he really needed since he sat on and broke his other ones!)
Claire and I are both so thankful for Chris. He is such a wonderful Dad and is so involved in every aspect of raising Claire. He has been especially wonderful lately as he is keeping Claire twice a week since I started back to work. I really don't know what I would do without him!
We love you Chris/Dad!!
This past Sunday, Claire finally got to wear her RED SHOES! Until now, she has really been too small to fit into any of her shoes. But this Sunday, she finally fit into her Red Patent Leather shoes. As you can see in this picture she is especially excited to be wearing them! Every girl needs a pair of red shoes!
Yesterday, Claire and I met Kelli for lunch at one of my favorite places. Kelli's schedule is pretty light this summer and of course Claire and I are always ready to get out of the house, so we decided to plan a lunch date. After we finished lunch we went back to Kelli's apartment and ichatted with Kasey and Brooks. This was such a treat for us, becasue we don't get to see them very much. Brooks was so handsome, Claire was already flirting with him! If Kasey and I have anything to do with it, these two will end up married!! Thanks "Aunt" Kelli for such a fun day!!!
Claire is 3 months old today! I can hardly believe three months have already passed. We cannot imagine life without her. She is cooing and laughing all the time now and is really getting a little bit of a personallity. She can roll over from her back to her stomach and is sleeping in her crib now. We are so proud!! ;)
Here are a couple of pictures to show how much she had grown in 3 months.
We had a great Memorial Day weekend. My brother Ben and his family came for a visit and that was a ton of fun. It's been a long time since I've seen his girls and they have grown up a lot. We had a good time. I didnt get a lot of pictures, but here are some from the weekend.
Emily went down the slide for the first time. She liked it.
This is Joel's brother, Carl, holding Emily.
Addy and Laurel (my brother's kids) at the park. They were so much fun.
The past couple of days, Aunt Laura has been a huge help to us. She went shopping with Claire and I yesterday and help us pick out a couple of really cute outfits for Claire. Then today she went with us for Claire's 3 month photo shoot. Thank goodness for Aunt Laura...she was so much help, especially when it came to deciding which pictures to order. (I seem to be very indecisive lately)
WE LOVE AUNT LAURA!!!
